Since it started in 2012, FRAW has worked tirelessly to maintain and improve the River Almond Walkway for the benefit of residents and visitors. Our Chair, Richard Adlington, helped to set up the group and his energy and enthusiasm have driven it (and us) forward ever since. Please accept our apologies for the lateness of this message – lots of excuses that we will not bore you with! Last year was difficult for so many but for some of us there was compensation provided by our living in such a lovely place. Salvesen Steps Update – November 2020
You may recall that earlier this year we joined a meeting with the council and consulting engineers where at last, a costing was revealed for the route around the rock-face that has been pursued for so long. The outcome was that the estimated cost had risen to a level far outside the range of anything realistically practical under present arrangements. On 27 October we took part in a meeting with officials of CEC Parks, Greenspaces & Cemeteries in which they put forward their proposal. Your subscriptions and generous donations have enabled us to buy necessary equipment for work parties – tools, plants etc. Our volunteers have put in many enjoyable hours helping with work parties which enable us to improve and keep the Walkway attractive for everyone’s enjoyment.
